A vehicle was parked in a disabled bay in Newbridge, Co Kildare this week, while gardaí observed the driver enter a shop.
On their return, Naas Roads Policing Unit (#NaasRPU) examined the Parking Permit for Persons with Disabilities and discovered it had been issued to another individual.
The permit was seized and returned to IWA Clane.
An Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) of €150 was issued to the driver.
A garda spokesperson stated: “Let’s be absolutely clear — misuse of disabled parking permits will not be tolerated.
“These spaces are vital, limited, and not optional. They exist for people who truly need them, not for convenience.
“A lack of consideration has real consequences for others. Respect disabled parking bays, respect our community, and help keep Newbridge accessible for everyone. ZERO TOLERANCE.”
