Storm Chandra will batter Ireland with rain and strong winds in hours Credit: Met Office
Members of the Kildare County Council Severe Weather Assessment Team attended a Met Eireann briefing this afternoon ahead of the arrival of Storm Chandra in Kildare.
The weather warning in place for County Kildare is currently a yellow wind warning valid from 5am on Tuesday to 11pm on Tuesday.
A Status Yellow Wind Warning will be in effect from 5am for Kildare as well as Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Wexford, Wicklow, Waterford, Monaghan, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.
Kildare Co Council said possible impacts of the storm are likely to include fallen trees and loose debris along with hazardous travel conditions.
Winds associated with Storm Chandra will be very strong and gusty particularly about the coasts and along exposed areas.
Members of the public are urged to monitor Met Eireann forecasts over the next 24 hours as conditions may change quickly.
