Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that some €32.25 worth of groceries were taken from the Aldi store located in Clane on October 29, 2025.
The court heard that Evan Casey has numerous previous convictions, including two for theft while Leanne McCormack had one previous conviction for theft dating back to 2022. The incident coincided with his birthday.
Defending solicitor David Powderly handed in money which more than covered the retail value of the items taken, as compensation.
Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed the Probation Act on Leanne McCormack.
The judge placed Evan Casey on a peace bond for 12 months. The judge told him that if he is brought back before the court in that time he would serve 12 months in custody.
