Athy GFC have announced former Carlow senior footballer and Éire Óg legend, Seán Gannon, as their new senior football manager.
The Kildare champions saw co-managers Ross Bell and Conor Ronan depart following a brilliant 2025 season with the men in red, which saw them beat five-in-a-row hunting Naas in the county final before reaching a Leinster SFC decider with Ballyboden St Enda's.
The new Athy boss is best known for his playing career having won eight Carlow SFC titles and being a five-time Carlow Senior Footballer of the Year winner.
Gannon has been involved with Leinster GAA Games Development and coaching development for a number of years and his new position will no doubt command huge attention and increased pressure as the county champions look to build on their stellar 2025 campaign with another young and exciting coach at the helm.
