As part of its St Brigid's Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign, Naas Roads Policing Unit operated a Mandatory Intoxicant Checkpoint at Confey, Leixlip, Co Kildare last weekend.
A vehicle was detected with no insurance, and was promptly impounded by gardai.
The consequences of the driver having no valid insurance are:

A court appearance is to follow
A fine of up to €5,000
Up to two years' driving disqualification
A garda spokesperson stated: “Illegal driving will be detected. No insurance. No excuses. Drive legal. Get home safe.”
