Kildare gardai have issued a fresh warning over the use of illegal e-scooters after another high-powered vehicle was seized in Naas in recent days.

The e-scooter was detected and seized on Monread Road, Naas recently.

This vehicle had a top speed of over 40kmh, and had two persons onboard, which is illegal on public roads.

The e-scooter was seized and a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) was issued to the rider.

A garda spokesperson said of the incident: “Let us be absolutely clear: e-scooters are not toys. At these speeds, with passengers on board, they become missiles on wheels — putting riders, pedestrians, and other road users at serious risk.

One mistake. One pothole. One child stepping off a footpath. The outcome doesn’t bear thinking about.

Enforcement will continue. Illegal use will not be tolerated. Road safety is non-negotiable.

Slow down. Know the law. Get home alive.”
