Approval upheld for €15m residential development in Kildare Town

Plans for a €15m residential development in Kildare Town have been upheld following appeal.

The plans, by Thoval Properties Limited, are for a total of 66 new homes on a 1.89ha site “east of R415, townland of Kildare and Whitesland East, Kildare Town R51 HV58, Co Kildare.”

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), a planning application for the proposed development was first submitted to Kildare County Council on 19/3/2025 by Thoval Properties Limited.

This was for for 66 homes including 16 3-bed semi-detached 2 storey houses; 2 3-bed terraced 2 storey houses; 1 2-bed terraced 2 storey house; 1 4-bed detached 2 storey house; 8 2-bed ground floor duplex units; 8 3-bed duplex units first and second floor; and 30 2-bed apartments in three storey blocks.

Also included were access roads, public open spaces, and associated services.

The proposed development was approved by the local authority on 22/9/2025, then appealed on 24/10/2025.

Subsequently, “following a thorough review on appeal”, An Coimisiún Pleanála upheld the decision to approve planning permission on 9/2/2026.

The architect for the project is Matt Barnes Architect.

The planning reference is 2560274.
