Gardaí arrest Kildare learner driver found with quantity of stolen goods

Gardaí attached to the Naas Roads Policing Unit (RPU), part of An Garda Síochána, were on proactive patrol in Newbridge, Co Kildare recently when they stopped a vehicle being driven by an unaccompanied learner driver.

During the course of the stop, Gardaí discovered a very large quantity of suspected stolen property inside the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a local Garda station.

Following further investigation, the individual has since been charged with Handling Stolen Property and is due to appear before the courts in the coming weeks.

The vehicle was seized and impounded, and a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) along with two penalty points were issued in relation to road traffic offences.
