Gardai in Kildare are investigating the theft of a vehicle last Thursday, February 12 in Kildare town.

Details of the incident were given by Gda William Barry of Newbridge Garda Station, who was a guest on Kfm's Crime Watch slot this week.

According to Gda Barry, the stolen vehicle is a red Renault Clio, “registration number 181C”, which was taken from Melitta Road in Kildare town on Thursday, February 12 last.

The incident occurred at between 2.05pm and 2.10pm.

The car was parked in a car park on the Melitta Road and the culprit entered the car and drove away, heading in the direction of Newbridge, Gda Barry explained.

At 5.30pm on the same day, the car was seen on CCTV in Newbridge.

Gardai would like to speak to anyone who may have information on this incident, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Melitta Road/Maryville area of Newbridge on that date.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to check the footage for anything suspicious.

Anyone with information or who has seen this vehicle is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station at (045) 527730.
