A number of changes have been proposed for a crèche building located in South Kildare.

A planning permission application submitted to Kildare County Council (KCC) shows that Kilcullen Community Childcare and Education Centre intends to make the amendments to the Community Complex located on the Newbridge Road in Kilcullen.

The description included within the applications notes that the organisation intends to construct a storey-and-a-half extension to rear of existing creche building.

This extension would consist of:

  • The provision of two brand-new proposed classrooms with ancillary rooms
  • The provision of a lean-to external overhang to the proposed covered patio at the rear of the existing crèche building
  • The conversion of the existing external overhang at the front of the crèche building into a proposed sensory room (This would also result in the provision of a new external access door)

In addition, Kilcullen Community Childcare and Education Centre is seeking permission from KCC for all site development and facilitating works.

The date received on the application is listed as February 19 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as March 25, 2026 and April 15, 2026 respectively.

According to the official website for the Kilcullen Community Childcare and Education Centre, it was established back in September of 1974, while its centre was first opened back in September of 2014.
