A massive €43m Large-scale Residential Development (LRD) has been approved for Kildare.
Glenveigh Homes Limited has secured planning permission to construct 195 apartments at Parson Street, Maynooth, Co Kildare.
According to Construction Information Services (CIS), planning application number 2560877 was approved by Kildare County Council on February 27 2026, having been submitted on August 6 2025.
The scheme comprises planning permission for a Large-scale Residential Development (LRD) of 195 apartments across three blocks, ranging in height from two to seven storeys.
A childcare facility and cafe/commercial unit at this site has also been proposed to the rear of the former Maynooth Rectory (a Protected Structure) at Parson Street, Maynooth.

The site is bound to the north and northeast by vacant lands to the rear of properties fronting onto Parson Street (with Maynooth Fire Station further beyond) and by the HSE Community Care Centre, to the east and south by the Royal Canal Greenway and to the west and northwest by the Maynooth Rectory Building and Parson Lodge residential housing estate.
The development consists of the construction of 195 no. apartments as follows:
195 apartments comprising 98 1-bedroom, 91 2-bedroom and 6 3-bedroom units in 3 no. blocks including:
Block A will provide for 46 apartment units and will include 25 1-bedroom and 21 2-bedroom apartments along with associated private amenity space in the form of balconies in a building ranging in height from 2 - 5 storeys with a maximum height of 16.7m;
Block B will provide for 70 apartment units and will include 36 1-bedroom and 34 2-bedroom apartment units along with associated private amenity space in the form of balconies in a 6-storey building with a maximum height of 20.5m;
Block C will provide for 79 no. apartment units and will include 37 no. 1-bedroom, 36 no. 2-bedroom and 6 no. 3-bedroom apartments along with associated private amenity space in the form of balconies in a 7-storey building with a maximum height of 25.6m;
The construction of a childcare facility at ground floor level in Block C with an associated outdoor play area of 145 sq.m;
The provision of 1 no. cafe/commercial unit at ground floor level of Block C with a Gross Floor Area of 107 sq.m;
The provision of 2,444 sq.m of Public Open space and 1,380 sq.m of Communal Open Space.
The provision of 83 no. surface level car parking spaces including 4 no. EV spaces and 4 no. accessible car parking spaces;
The provision of 419 bicycle parking spaces
The proposed development will also provide for pedestrian and cyclist permeability and emergency access through the site and onto the Royal Canal Towpath.
The architect for the development is John Fleming Architects.
The total site area is 1.53ha.
