Kildare motorist travelling almost double the speed limit

The motorist was travelling at 96km/h in a 50 km/h zone

Kildare motorist travelling almost double the speed limit

Naas Roads Policing Unit recently carried out a speed enforcement checkpoint in Kilberry, Co Kildare following public complaints.

The location is a 50km/h zone.

During the operation, six detections for speeding were recorded.

The highest of these were the following:

  • 96km/h

  • 88km/h

All drivers detected were issued Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (€160) and three penalty points.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “Speed limits are in place to protect everyone in our communities — especially in lower speed zones where pedestrian and residential activity is higher.

Please slow down and drive responsibly.”
