Some 11 people were treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital today, having come in through the accident and emergency department.

The most overcrowded facility in the eastern region was St Vincent's Hospital where there were 33 patients on trolleys, followed by the Mater and Tallaght Hospital (25 each).

The least overcrowded hospital was Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown which had 4 patients on trolleys..

There were no patients on trolleys at Tullamore Hospital and the figure for Portlaoise was three.
