A call has been made for a long awaited link road to be built from the huge Aldi supermarket distribution centre in Naas.

At a Naas Municipal District committee meeting, Cllr Evie Sammon said the councillors  should be updated “on the delivery of the link road from the Aldi centre to the Millennium Park road.

She said the construction of the road is a condition of planning and “it will alleviate traffic congestion.”

Kildare County Council said it continues to engage with Aldi regarding the delivery of the proposed link road.”

It added that "progress to date has been slower than anticipated and engagement has not yielded the level of agreement KCC had hoped for.”

The meeting was told that the council is “reviewing the options to support the advancement of the road and will keep the councillors updated as discussions continue.”
