A Labour councillor for Kildare North has called on the council to carry out an assessment into suitable locations in the MD for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Cllr Rupert Heather will motion that the council take the measure “including rapid charging points, and engage with relevant charge point operators to explore opportunities for the delivery of this infrastructure” at the March meeting of Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District, to be held on March 20 2026.
Cllr Heather's motion is just one of several to be put forward by local councillors under the 'Transport' section of the upcoming MD meeting.
Elsewhere, and Cllr David Trost (FF) calls on the local authority to prepare a time-frame for works to enhance the paths and signage, and considers removal of overhead cables at English Row, Celbridge, “in the interest of safety”.
The move would also better integrate with Main Street where improvements were completed in the past, Cllr Trost motions.

Meanwhile, Cllr Bernard Caldwell (FF) calls on the council to consider putting in place traffic lights at Galvin's Cross on Station Road, Leixlip.
A second motion from Cllr Caldwell calls on the council to object to “any proposal” by Uisce Éireann to completely close the section of road from the top of Captain's Hill Junction to an area at the back of Confey GAA grounds, Leixlip on the R148.
Similarly, the council is called upon to update members on discussion between Uisce Éireann and the District Engineer, by Cllr Claire O'Rourke (SD.)
This relates to discussions on alternative travel options to the proposed full road closure of Maynooth Road, Celbridge, “and extensive traffic diversions for infrastructure works.”
The quality and number of street lights along the main avenue in Riverforest Estate in Leixlip is the subject of a motion tabled by Cllr Paul Brooks at the MD meeting.
Cllr Brooks asks that the council engage with the ESB with regard to improving the street lighting in this area.
Cllr Declan Ryan (FG) asks: “Can the council confirm when Shackleton Road, Celbridge will be resurfaced following works (now completed) by the ESB in connection with the Solar Farm at Killeenlea?”
While finally, Cllr Nuala Killeen (SD) asks for an update on proposals for Safe Routes to Schools for Green Lane and Confey, Leixlip.
