A harrowing traffic incident which occurred on the N4 in County Kildare has prompted a garda investigation.

The incident, which saw an articulated lorry collide with another vehicle, was highlighted by Garda Ann-Marie Reilly on a recent KFM radio programme.

Appearing as a special guest on one of the station's programmes, she told host Hannah that the collision occurred on the evening of Thursday, March 5 last.

She explained that the driver of the lorry "failed to stop" the collision and subsequently fled the scene.

Gda Reilly added that although the occupants of the other vehicle was uninjured, the vehicle was damaged by the lorry.

She concluded by urging anyone with information on the incident to contact Maynooth Garda Station on 01 629 2380.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the N4 in Maynooth, County Kildare on March 5 last shortly after 6pm.

 "No injuries [were] reported."

The spokesperson also asserted that the investigation is ongoing.
