A man has been arrested by Tipperary gardai following a significant drugs seizure on the M7 motorway.

Gardaí from Nenagh garda station say they initially responded to a report of a van which was stopped on the M7 in the Birdhill area on Thursday.

They say enquiries were carried out and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of cash and suspected cannabis, both of which were concealed in the vehicle.

The suspected drugs have an estimated value of €280,000 while the cash totalled €20,000. Gardai say a small quantity of cocaine was also seized.

No further information has been disclosed publicly and investigations are ongoing.
