Kildare could open its own camino.

A camino, meaning a pathway or a route, may be built revolving around St Brigid.

Kildare County Council has secured funding of €50,000 under the government's Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) for a feasibility study.

Cllr Brian O’Loughlin was told that the proposal emerged from engagement with interested parties as part of the development and expansion of the Brigid-Spirit of Kildare Festival.

According to KCC, the next step is to initiate a procurement process for a consultancy to carry out a feasibility study to “explore the routing options and all related factors, including but not limited to environmental, access, capital, maintenance and management.”

The feasibility study must be completed by February 27, 2027.
