A man aged in his 20s arrested following a 'serious assault' incident which occurred in one County Kildare town centre.

Explaining the latest development of the investigation, a garda spokesperson said: "As part of the investigation into the serious assault which occurred on North Main Street, Naas, County Kildare on Sunday, March 15 last, gardaí have arrested a man this morning, Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

"The man, aged in his 20s, is currently detained at a garda station in Kildare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
 
"The male (30s) injured during this incident remains in Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries."

The spokesperson also said that gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them: "Any persons who were in the vicinity of North Main Street between 2.20am and 3am on March 15 last and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí."

They concluded by adding: " Anyone with any information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station."
