Woman being treated for cancer 'wrongly accused by husband of having an affair', Kildare court told

Naas Courthouse

A woman undergoing treatment for cancer was wrongly accused of having an affair by her husband.

This was the claim made by the woman at Naas District Court during a family law hearing.

She said she had ignored the claim because “it’s nonsensical” but she feels like she is walking on eggshells.

She claimed that the man is verbally, financially and emotionally abusive.

The woman, who is a student, said she was in the car with him on the way back from hospital treatment for cancer when he accused her and “I wanted to get out of the car.”

She claimed she was accused of changing the sim card in her phone because of the affair but she said the sim card was changed only in order to have one similar to another member of the family - and this was his suggestion.

The woman also claimed she had been assaulted by him and her mouth and teeth were bleeding. The man was not present or represented.

The woman also said she is supposed to be at home resting because of the treatment she is receiving and she said this was also the reason for her wearing a face mask in court.

Judge Desmond Zaidan granted an interim protection order and adjourned the matter to February 24.
