A woman alleged in Naas District Court her ex-partner “is a dangerous man” and she is afraid of him.
The woman came to court seeking protection under family law legislation and said the man was in trouble with the police in the past and had been arrested for assault.
The man was not present or represented at the hearing.
She further claimed that he has pushed her and “he threatens to beat me up.”
The woman also claimed she had called the gardaí because he wanted to leave the house with the baby.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said he did not think that serious harm would befall the woman but “for a bit of peace and quiet,” he granted her an interim protection order.
Nevertheless he said the case is not an emergency. He adjourned the matter to September 14 and said that this did not mean that he would affirm the order on that date.
