A local representative has called on Kildare County Council (KCC) to conduct junction traffic surveys in one County Kildare town.
Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle requested the surveys at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, March 18 last.
According to Cllr Doyle's motion, she wanted KCC to specifically include Newtown Crossroads and Cross Quays in Kildare town in the surveys, "in order to inform possible junction upgrades that will improve traffic movement".
Her motion was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Brian O'Loughlin.
In response to Cllr Doyle's motion, KCC told her that these locations can be added to its list for traffic counts.
Cllr Doyle replied by saying that she accepted KCC's report.
In related news, Cllr Suzanne Doyle made headlines earlier this week when she requested KCC to provide a progress report on the delivery of additional car parking for Kildare town.
