Disruption on Kildare routes continues due to protests and collisions

TII warned of “significant delays

Motorists travelling through Kildare faced significant disruption this morning as a series of incidents and fuel protest-related road closures impacted key commuter routes.

Slow-moving convoys of tractors and HGVs on both sides of the N7 caused delays to motorists.

According to Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s (TII) Traffic Control Centre, a collision on the M4 at Junction 9 near Enfield temporarily affected both lanes eastbound earlier today.

While the incident has since been cleared, delays continued to impact traffic moving towards Dublin, a busy route for Kildare commuters.

The disruption comes against the backdrop of ongoing fuel protests across the country, which have led to multiple motorway closures and diversions.

Although no full closures were reported within Kildare itself this morning, routes connecting the county to the area were affected by incidents and restrictions elsewhere.

TII warned drivers that “significant delays to your journey are likely to occur” and urged motorists to consider alternative routes where possible.

Earlier updates confirmed full closures on several major routes nationwide, including stretches of the M1, M8, and N6, as protest activity and related incidents continued into Monday.

Kildare residents commuting via the M4 and surrounding national roads experienced knock-on delays as traffic volumes increased and diversions were put in place.

TII said its Motorway Operations Control Centre is continuing to monitor the situation and provide live updates throughout the day.

Motorists can access real-time updates via the TII traffic website or contact the control centre for assistance.
