Plans refused for €578k pastoral centre in this Kildare town

Detailed plans for a €578k pastoral centre for Kilcock, Co Kildare have been refused.

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), plans were refused with respect to an application by Kildare and Leighlin Diocesan Trust for an address at St Coca's Parish Church, Church Street, Kilcock, Co Kildare.

CIS notes that planning application number 2660179 was submitted for consideration by the local authority on March 5 2026.

The scheme comprised of the following:

  • The proposed construction of a single storey limestone pastoral centre of 315 square metres to the south of the existing limestone church;

  • The removal of the existing 20th century grotto;

  • The removal of a section of existing boundary wall and all associated site development works.

The project also included associated infrastructure works and access roads.
It should be noted that previous planning permission expired in February 2025.

The architect for the project was David Slattery Conservation Architects.
