A vehicle was recently stopped by Leixlip gardaí in Kildare as it was flagged through an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) alert.
On inspection, it was discovered that the driver was currently serving two active driving disqualifications.
The motorist was arrested and charged, and the vehicle was seized.
A garda spokesperson said of the arrest: “We will continue to keep our roads safe and take action against those driving unlawfully.”
Meanwhile, Naas Community Gardaí were out recently alongside the Road Safety Authority Ireland carrying out a checkpoint focused on school minibuses and coaches.
A total of 15 buses were inspected, with one Fixed Charge Notice issued for a Road Traffic Offence.
A garda spokesperson stated: “Ensuring the safety of our young passengers remains a top priority. Thank you to all drivers who continue to meet safety standards and help keep our roads safe.”
