Calling lonely hearts in Co Kildare: Matchmaker could fix you up in Lisdoonvarna
2 Sept 2015
Ireland's most famous matchmaker has invited lonely hearts from Co Kildare to Lisdoonvarna where he vowed to help find them new partners. The Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival, which runs until the end of the month, is over 150 years old and attracts 60,000 singletons from Ireland and around the world. The event's 'Cupid' Willie Daly (61), who has fixed up thousands of couples over several decades. Mr Daly said: "Where ever you're from, such as in Co Kildare, relationships don't work out for several reasons and the best thing is to get yourself out there and have fun again. "I have a lot of nice people on my books who would love to meet partners and it's just a matter of making the proper introduction and putting everybody at ease with other." Daly, who is a third-generation matchmaker, is famous for his tattered hand-written ledger which is jammed with contact details of thousands of love-lorn singletons from all over the world.
