Garda patrols help cut buglaries in Carbury area

Locals in north Kildare claim that increased Garda patrols have helped reduce burglaries in the area. Residents in Carbury and surrounding regions said that more patrols and checkpoints by officers are deterring potential crime. Locals also run the Carbury Text Alert scheme which shares information between more than 300 people about suspicious activity in the area. Activist Ben Doyle told "There had been a lot of burglaries in the area up to the start of the summer. "But then gardai stepped up resources in the area and we saw lots of visibility with patrols and checkpoints. "The garda presence has had a major effect on stemming the high number of burglaries which had been in the area previously."
