The first group of refugees have arrived in Kildare

24 refugees have arrived in Monasterevin, where they will be housed in the formerly dormant Hazel Hotel. The Irish Times reported that the Syrian migrants were brought by coach to the county Kildare hotel early on Tuesday morning. The hotel has been categorised as an operational centre, and this first group of migrants are expected to stay there for 3-4 months before being housed elsewhere in the state. They will receive any necessary medical attention they require during their stay, and they will also be offered English classes. It is an orientation of sorts, and once completed they will leave before another group of migrants take their place. The migrants are fleeing the conflict in their home country of Syria, as the war torn state is now completely unsafe for people to live in. People around the county are being asked to help out in any way they can, and while donations have been extremely generous thus far, the HSE have recently opened an account in which people can make further donations. The account number is 24404827 and the sort code is 90-12-63.
