Yet another Kildare road route will be closed this week
16 Sept 2015
A road near Prosperous will be closed during daytime hours for a week.
Kildare County Council apologised in advance for road works on L1021 between Staplestown Cross and Prosperous.
The route will be closed to all traffic from tomorrow to Wednesday September 23 from 8am to 7pm. The Council said traffic will be diverted via Staplestown/Ballynafagh.
It comes as another inconvenience to motorists who have already been burdened by the closure of the Carragh Bridge in recent weeks, which has caused serious disruption due to detours that have been put in place. Traffic congestion in Kildare is already at an alarmingly high level and this latest road closure will do nothing to abate the problem.
A Council spokesman said: "Local access will be maintained at all times however delays may be expected and we would ask that you adhere to the traffic management operations and exercise caution at all times in the vicinity of the works."
"Kildare County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused."
