Mile Mill junction gets Garda approval for new road alignment: KCC to commence work within the month
18 Sept 2015
Plans submitted to An Garda Síochana for the re-alignment of Mile Mill junction has got the green light to go ahead. "KCC submitted the new layout proposal to the Gardai which has now been approved and therefore means works will commence over the coming month" said Deputy Martin Heydon. "All four approach roads will now have Stop signs with visible road markings so that all motorists approaching the junction wil have to stop and creep through the intersection. This traffic mechanism has worked really well in other areas". When asked if a roundabout system would not be more appropriate, Deputy Heydon replied that unfortunately with two houses bordering the junction, there just wouldn't be enough room. "The signs have been ordered and funding secured; KCC have the new junction layout on their works programme for the coming month" added Deputy Heydon who also warned "There is no accounting for driver behaviour but I'm confident this will benefit motorists using this route".
