Port Tunnel fully open again and and city truck ban reinstated

The Port Tunnel is finally open to traffic again after a six-hour closure caused traffic chaos in Dublin. Both the southbound and northbound bores have reopened to vehicles following a truck fire forced its shutdown at 7am. Following the opening , gardai have reinstated city centre HGV ban so the vehicles can no longer drive through city centre.   The M1 and Dublin centre traffic suffered the brunt of the impact as hundreds of lorries were forced into city-bound commuter routes. Dublin Fire Brigade said it has has provided a standard response to a Port Tunnel incident including four pumps, an Environmental unit and ambulance.
