Six still in hospital -including two children after Kildare crash
27 Sept 2015
A two-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl are among those injured in a crash between two cars near Monasterevin in Co Kildare at around midday. All six people in the crash are still in hospital. Early indications are that a car which was being followed at a distance by gardai collided with the car of a family travelling in the opposite direction. The injured include people from both cars. Three men from one car - aged in their teens or early 20s - were injured. Two were taken to Tallaght Hospital with serious injuries, and one has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital. The third was taken to Tullamore General Hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious. A man and two children, a boy (2) and a 7-year-old girl, who were travelling in the second car, were taken to Tullamore Hospital to be treated for their injuries. The road was closed earlier while an investigation was launched. The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission attended the scene as a matter of procedure before handing the investigation back to gardai. The condition of the remaining injured is not known at this stage.
