Young Co Kildare man who died on streets of Dublin was receiving drugs treatment

A Co Kildare man in his mid 30s found dead on the streets of Dublin city centre had been receiving treatment for drug addiction issues. Alan Murphy, believed to be from Naas, died while sleeping on Dawson Lane.  His body was discovered at about 7a.m. on Friday. A spokesperson for the Peter McVerry Trust, Francis Doherty, disclosed that Gardai are still in the process of trying to source family members. According to the Peter McVerry Trust, Mr Murphy had been staying in emergency accommodation for up to 24 hours before he died. They also confirmed that he had received treatment for a drug addiction issue. He first came to the attention of homeless shelters in Dublin city around late 2014.
