Cllr says he is 'in dark' about progress of multimillion Athy bypass
29 Sept 2015
There is some confusion being expressed about the progress of the multimillion Athy by-pass. Earlier this year The Athy Southern Distributor Road project was allocated €500,000 in funding. Disappointment is being voiced that an update on the development was not provided at yesterday's Muncipal meeting. However, FG Cllr Mark Wall is confident that the by-pass will go-ahead but there is serious concern from SF Cllr Thomas Redmond. The SF Cllr reveals that he had expected that an announcement would be made at yesterday's Athy Municipal meeting on the location of the by-pass. However, there were no consultants available as planned. "This is the third time that there has been an announcement on the by-pass. Not having a by-pass is hampering the town, this is now the biggest issue in South Kildare."
