Newbridge man accused of theft is already in prison in Australia - court hears

A Newbridge man accused of stealing goods is already in jail in Australia - a court heard. John O'Brien (20) of Station Road in Newbridge faced a number of charges of unlawfully taking items from Ted Johnson's hardware store and Boots pharmacy in Naas. However Naas District Court was told that Mr O'Brien is currently serving a prison sentence in Australia after he was convicted of a roof repair scam in the Perth area. Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the matter to Naas District Court in March next year.
