Kildare County Council has been urged to issue a deadline for flood relief works in Castledermot. The River Barrow sometimes bursts its banks and overflows onto nearby streets and residential areas of the town. Cllr Ivan Keatley has called on the local authority to commit to a timeframe for vital flood prevention works to be completed. The local politician said that homes and businesses need to be protected into the future. The issue will be raised at a Municipal District meeting in Athy next week.
