€10,000 a month to run Co Kildare GAA club

A 24 hour walk is set to kick off this evening at St Kevin's GAA Club in a desperate bid to raise funds. 18 captains are participating with each walking an hour, from 7p.m. this evening until 7p.m tomorrow. Each walker has a card worth €50. The fundraiser has been established in an effort to meet costs for essential works at the club. Speaking to KildareNow, Club Officer, Sinead Noonan, said: "It costs €10,000 a month to run the club. We have great plans for the club." Proposals are now in place to purchase an additional pitch and provide floodlighting and astro-turf. Meanwhile, the Department of Sports and Tourism is allocating the club €130,000.
