Traffic: Truck hits Dart level crossing in south Dublin

Commuters on the Dart were hit with delays after a truck struck the level crossing barrier at Sandymount at around 8.30am. The Serpentine level crossing barrier between Lansdowne and Sydney Parade stations was badly damaged in the incident. Crews are currently repairing the damage in a bid to reopen the line as soon as is safe to do so. CCTV footage showed the light-coloured vehicle hitting the barriers. Dublin Bus is accepting rail tickets. A source said: “The barrier was starting to come down and the truck sped up and went for it and damaged the barrier. The truck didn’t stop and it left the scene. "Witnesses spotted the registration number and contacted gardai."
