Naas man Jamie has scrummy day out at Buckingham Palace

Naas rugby star Jamie Heaslip rubbed shoulders with royalty at Buckingham Palace yesterday. Heaslip, who is a past pupil of Newbridge College and played with Naas Rugby Club, represented the Irish team at the VIP reception as captain Paul O'Connell was injured. Heaslip, who is 6'4" tall and over 17 stone in weight, got to chat with rugby fan Prince Harry and later met Queen Elizabeth at the gala event. The 31-year-old had a heroic role in the energy-sapping 24-9 win in Cardiff. Hundreds of supports from Co Kildare attending the tournament in England and Wales. The team is now be focusing on the quarter-final clash with Argentina on Sunday. Ireland’s rugby stars spent several weeks preparing for the tournament at a training camp in Carton House Hotel in Maynooth.
