Talks continue to avert strike affecting Kildare commuters

Talks aimed at averting a rail strike affecting 5,500 Co Kildare commuters later this month will continue in Dublin today. Last week, unions representing staff at Irish Rail announced plans to strike between 6am and 9am on Friday, October 23 as well as on the 6th of November. The move will have a major impact on 5,500 Co Kildare commuters. Representatives from SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Union have accepted a request for talks at the LRC at noon. Iarnrod Eireann bosses said they will be attending the talks and hope the discussions could avoid disruption for customers.
