Man 'ashamed' of being drunk in cafe, court hears

A Kildare town man charged with being drunk in a cafe was given a second chance by a judge. Peter Byrne (63) of Rathbride Manor admitted he had a drink problem since his divorce a year ago. Judge Desmond Zaidan told Naas District Court he wanted to give help to the defendant and he referred him to the Probation and Welfare Services and adjourned the case to December. Mr Byrne said: "I'm ashamed."
