Man living in Oz feared a conviction could kick him out of the country

A man living in Australia asked a judge not to convict him as he would be barred from the country. David O'Connnor (47) of New Bawn Drive in Tallaght was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Naas town at the weekend. Naas District Court was told that Mr O'Connor would be prevented from re-entering Australia if he had a criminal conviction. Judge Desmond Zaidan served Mr O'Connor with the Probation Act which means he won't have a criminal record. The judge also ordered him to pay €500 to Aware and €500 to the Samaritans.
