Kildare County Council left with significant deficit due to confusing pay-parking signs in Celbridge and Leixlip

Having signs advertising the wrong pay -parking times has left Kildare County Council with a deficit of €126,000 this year. A meeting was held last Friday, which agreed to implement a bye-law permitting a change of signage for pay-parking in Leixlip and Celbridge. Signs are indicating that pay-parking is required in these towns from 8.30a.m. to 6.30p.m. Monday to Saturday. However, on the contrary, parking is free on Saturdays in these towns and is only required from 10a.m. to 4p.m. Speaking to KildareNow, SF Cllr Ide Cussen revealed that this year having contractors from 8.30a.m. to 6.30p.m. has left Kildare County Council at a deficit of €126,000.
