Carrickmines tragedy
Thousands of mourners are expected at today's funerals of five of the people who died in a fire at a halting site in Carrickmines ten days ago. The funeral mass of Willie Lynch, 25, Tara Gilbert, 27, their daughters Jodie, 9, and Kelsey, 4, and Willie's 39-year-old brother Jimmy Lynch take place at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in Bray at noon. They will be brought from the funeral home to the church on Main Street in five hearses for the Requiem Mass, which is expected to attract large crowds from around the country. Fr Derek Farrell of the Parish of the Travelling People will be the chief celebrant. Afterwards, the remains will be taken to Springfield Cemetery on the south of the town. The other victims of the fire, Thomas and Sylvia Connors and their children, Jim, Christy and Mary, will be buried in Wexford on Friday.
