Talks until dawn but rail strike still possible this Friday

Last -ditch talks aimed at averting strike action at Irish Rail tomorrow will resume at 11.30am today. Officials from the company met with representatives of the National Bus and Rail Workers Union and SIPTU until 3.15am this morning, when talks were adjourned without agreement. Train drivers are planning to strike for three hours during the morning rush-hour tomorrow, in a row based on past productivity. Drivers will engage in a further day of action on November 6 unless the dispute is resolved.
