Man that was stabbed in Dublin on Thursday was a brother to Real IRA member Alan Ryan

The man that was stabbed in Parnell Square in Dublin City centre on Thursday afternoon has been identified as Vinny Ryan, who was the younger brother of slain Real IRA member Alan Ryan. He was stabbed on front of a 24-year-old woman that he was walking with, and one source described the attack by saying "he was cut from ear to ear in this brutal daylight attack". Vinny Ryan, who is from Donaghmede, has been under threat for a number of years from rival republicans and the criminals who ordered the killing of his brother, and there are fears that this could start another chapter in the gang war. Last night a group claiming to be the 'newly reformed' Real IRA released a statement saying that they would take revenge.
