Weather update: Heavy rain at the moment, but a brighter day is in store

It's been a miserable enough start to the morning with persistent rain coupled with a relatively strong wind making conditions very poor for those venturing outdoors today but it should get better later in the afternoon. Moderate to heavy showers will continue to fall throughout the morning but it is expected to clear up during the afternoon at around 2pm and the rest of the day should remain dry and cloudy. It will be a mild afternoon with highs of around 12-14 degrees and light south westerly breezes blowing in all day. Tonight should remain dry but there is a small risk of small outbreaks of rain as the west and southern parts of the country will experience rain at different times. It will be a moderately warm night with lowest temperatures of around 8-10 degrees.
