Maynooth highest rate of crime in county not surprising says public representative

A new report is listing Maynooth as having the ninth highest rate of crime in the country, spurring a local politician to state that it is 'not surprising.' According to a Neighbour Crime survey rating instances of crime around Ireland, Robertstown has the lowest level of crime in Co Kildare as opposed to Maynooth. Speaking to KildareNow, Fine Gael Cllr Tim Durkan said that there is a worrying trend of house burglaries in Maynooth. "It is concerning. I know a number of people whose homes have been burgled in Maynooth, it is a very personal crime that leaves lasting effects." The Cllr added that plans to add more Garda recruits is welcome. Maynooth does not have a Garda Station that operates 24/7, but Leixlip does.
