4 Gardai needed to manage traffic as massive crowds surge into Kildare Village once again

Four Gardai are managing traffic going into the Kildare Village retail outlet as the shopping district sees another huge influx of visitors for the second week running. Last weekend saw the first few days of the Christmas shopping period and it seems that shoppers aren't being deterred by the cold weather again this morning. A member of the Kildare Gardai told KildareNow that four members of the force are on duty down at the outlet to direct traffic, though they have been hired by Kildare Village and it isn't impacting on garda resources. Last weekend saw many customers complaining of having to queue outside stores in the rain as throngs of shoppers flocked to get some bargain buys before Christmas. A major problem that was being experienced by other retailers in the area was the overflow of Kildare Village shoppers parking in free car parks such as Tesco and Aldi and walking across to the outlet mall from those places, while the park and ride service that operates in the town was also struggling with the demand last weekend. There were queues outside some stores as early as 9.30am this morning once again.
