Gardai perform opportunistic drugs bust after driver crashes in Kildare
22 Nov 2015
Gardai performed a very opportunistic drugs seizure after a man crashed his car on the side of the N4 between Maynooth and Leixlip yesterday afternoon. Gardai were called to the scene of the accident and quickly realised that the driver's car had three bald tyres and they had blown out, forcing him to veer off the road and crash. Crews from the Kildare Fire Brigade were called to the scene. The driver, a man in his thirties, was uninjured but Gardai became suspicious and carried out a search of the man's car. They recovered a small quantity of cannabis herb and the man was arrested at the scene. He was brought to Leixlip garda station and charged for the possession of the drug and for having bald tyres on his car. He was later released and will appear in court at a later date.
